'Our Fred' was on TV from 1978 until his early death in 2004. While he could be found presenting fine historical TV shows, and of course, his 'Made in Britain' series, it was the strange and wonderful stories that he used to tell - and amazing footage of him either teetering on the edge of a chimney like he was on his front step, or to be found in his 'workshop' toiling away at another lifelong project!
